On December 13, 2024, Las Cruces Police Officers responded to a rollover accident. An 18-year-old woman had flipped her car after hitting a large rock and tree. A friend told police that the two of them had returned from a frat party where the driver had been drinking. She was checked out by paramedics but refused medical treatment. She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which led to her arrest. As she was being handcuffed, her mother and step-father showed up. The woman was taken to the Las Cruces police station, where she submitted to an evidential breath test. The results of her 2 breath samples were 0.16% and 0.17% BAC. Off camera, she was taken to the hospital for medical clearance before being transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center. Her charges are listed at the end of the video. Her case remains open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
