A patrol deputy observes a vehicle driving erratically, nearly causing multiple collisions, prompting an immediate traffic stop. At approximately 4:18 AM, a deputy initiated a traffic stop after observing a 2008 Ford Escape swerving, crossing the center line, and nearly rear-ending another vehicle on SR 195. The driver, a young adult woman, initially denied alcohol consumption but later admitted to drinking a Budlight Seltzer approximately two hours prior. Noticing indicators of impairment, including a lack of smooth eye pursuit, the deputy requested backup and administered field sobriety exercises. The driver exhibited multiple signs of impairment during the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, Walk and Turn, and One Leg Stand tests. A subsequent Preliminary Breath Test (PBT) indicated a blood alcohol content of 0.125%. Based on these observations and test results, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence and later provided an Alcotest result of 0.111%, exceeding the legal limit. She was transported to jail, read her constitutional rights, and later pleaded guilty to negligent driving in the first degree, receiving a sentence including community service and probation. --- Transparency through the lens of the law.
