At 2:15 pm on July 30, 1975, Jimmy Hoffa — the 62-year-old former president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters — called his wife from a payphone at the Machus Red Fox restaurant in Bloomfield Township, Michigan. He told her the men he was supposed to meet hadn't shown up. He said he'd be home by four. The men were Anthony "Tony Jack" Giacalone, a Detroit mob enforcer, and Anthony "Tony Pro" Provenzano, a New Jersey Teamster with Mafia ties. Hoffa was trying to reclaim control of the Teamsters after serving prison time for jury tampering. The mob didn't want him back. Around 2:45pm, the FBI believes Hoffa got into a maroon Mercury Marquis without a struggle. His hair and scent were later confirmed in the back seat. His green 1974 Pontiac Grand Ville was found unlocked in the restaurant parking lot. He was never seen again. Over the next fifty years, the FBI conducted searches across the country — under Giants Stadium, under a horse farm, under a suburban driveway, under the floorboards of a house in Detroit, under a landfill in Jersey City. More than 200 agents were assigned. Nothing was ever found. The most accepted theory: Hoffa was killed within hours and his body was destroyed at an industrial facility. Nobody has ever been charged. The case remains open. Hoffa was declared legally dead on July 30, 1982 — exactly seven years after he disappeared. Subscribe — GraveFile TV. These cases don't close.
