On April 5, 2023, Rio Rancho Police Officers responded to a single car motor vehicle accident. Dispatch advised officers that a black Subaru had crashed into a fence and the female driver could not stand up. Dispatch also advised that the vehicle had flat tires and was leaving the scene of the crash and there were no license plates on the vehicle. Officer Roskos followed the trail of damage caused by the vehicle riding on rims and located the vehicle not too far away. The front end of the vehicle was smoking, so he instructed the 20-year-old driver to exit the vehicle. The police report indicates that Officer Roskos could smell alcohol emitting from the breath of the woman. She admitted to consuming Patron shots prior to the accident. She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests, but due to her level of intoxication, she was unable to perform the walk-and-turn and one-leg stand test. She was placed under arrest for DUI and was transported to the Rio Rancho police station. She agreed to submit to an evidential breath test and the result was 0.21% BAC.
