After reports of shots fired, the entire department descended on the scene: the home of a 66-year-old man. There are hardly enough words to describe how beloved he was. He had recently retired from a grocery retailer, where he worked as a manager — the kind who stood up for employees and treated everyone with kindness. He loved woodworking, nature, Christmas decorating, church, and most of all, his grandchildren. But there was someone else he loved, too. His 36-year-old live-in — though on-again, off-again — girlfriend. When police arrived, they found her bleeding on the apartment floor from a gunshot wound to the leg. She was quickly rushed to the hospital, leaving officers to inspect the scene of what was reported as a break-in. Only… nothing indicated that a break-in had occurred. Everything suggested that the emergency call was a cover story for another crime. #interrogationpsychology #interrogation
