On January 31, 2025, at 11:28 PM, Arkansas State Trooper Nathan Jynes was stationed along US Highway 425 when he observed a speeding white Ford F-250 traveling 88 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. As the vehicle approached, Trooper Jynes activated his radar and clocked it accelerating to 100 MPH. When the trooper activated his lights and sirens, the driver refused to stop, leading to a high-speed pursuit southbound on US Hwy 425. The suspect, later identified as Dakota Chadick Thompson, continued into Star City, Arkansas, where Trooper Jynes attempted a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI). As the trooper moved in for the TVI maneuver, the F-250 suddenly braked, causing the trooper’s front bumper to make contact with the truck’s rear bumper and tire. This forced both vehicles to a stop near Church Street in Star City. Trooper Jynes conducted a felony stop, taking Thompson and his passenger, John Logan, into custody without further resistance. A strong odor of alcohol was detected on Thompson, and after a breathalyzer test, he registered a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .21—more than twice the legal limit. Inside the truck, officers found open alcohol containers, a deer in the truck bed, and firearms. Thompson was booked on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including DWI, reckless driving, speeding, and possession of alcohol by a minor.
