Around 1:20 AM on October 9, 2022, Officer David Kelley with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department observed a female attempting to enter the Hilton Garden Hotel with a downtown traffic cone. The female, later identified as 21-year-old Addie, was advised to put the cone down. She was warned that if she took the traffic cone, it would be considered theft and she could be taken to jail for it. She put the traffic cone down and Officer Kelley drove away in his patrol vehicle. A few minutes later, as Officer Kelley approached the traffic light at E Hancock Avenue and N Thomas Street, he observed Addie running down the street with the traffic cone in her hands. Since she was previously warned against stealing the traffic cone, Addie was placed in handcuffs and arrested. Officer Kelley looked through Addie’s purse to retrieve her identification, and Addie admitted to being in possession of a fake ID that she used before she turned 21. As he was speaking with Addie, he also detected the odor of alcohol. After Addie was placed under arrest, Officer Kelley transported her Addie to the Clarke-County Jail for further processing. As Officer Kelley was completing paperwork at the jail, she informed him that her father was a Sheriff with Taylor County. However, no public records corroborating that claim could be located, so it is unclear whether or not that is true. She was issued 2 citations for Public Intoxication and Disorderly Conduct. Interestingly though, the police report states that Addie was not charged for the theft of the downtown traffic cone. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting this channel (email us for more information).
