On December 22, 2024, officers with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic violence incident. Sergeant Hager was first on scene and could hear fighting, he quickly ran in to intervene. The footage was redacted, but we included Sergeant Hager’s recount of what happened inside the residence when he made contact with the 51-year-old suspect named Armando. In the end, Armando was charged with attempted murder without premeditation, unarmed burglary, aggravated battery, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, unarmed burglary of an authorized emergency vehicle, grand theft of motor vehicle, resisting an officer with violence, battery on an officer, carjacking without a firearm, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, fleeing and eluding at high speed, driving with a license from another state when his Florida license was suspended, aggravated fleeing with injury or damage, 2 counts of failing to obey police, hit and run, and cited for speeding in excess of 50 mph over the speed limit.
