During this incident at the Tampa International Airport, guest services attempted to help an intoxicated traveler rebook a flight. Because of the traveler's level of impairment, the airline refused to let her board, issued a refund, and ended their assistance. Law enforcement arrived and tried to help the traveler leave the airport safely, utilizing a wheelchair because she was too unstable to stand on her own. Instead of cooperating or speaking with a family member on the phone to calm down, the traveler became extremely irate, screamed profanities at random bystanders, and repeatedly demanded that the officers arrest her. Officers noted her slurred speech, belligerent behavior, and the strong smell of alcohol before finally taking her into custody. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. An arrest is not a finding of guilt: that’s something for a court to decide.
