#news #police #arrest #cops #shoplifting #dollartree Report: On 10/20/2021, At approximately 09:39 hours, Officers were dispatched to Dollar Tree, in reference to a shoplifting. Central advised that the suspect was a black female wearing camo-print pants, neon green shoes, long sleeved black shirt and had red hair. Upon arrival, officer observed a female matching the description walking in front of the store. Officer made contact with the female and told her that the reason why she was making contact with her was because the manager observed her shoplifting items from the store; the suspect stated that she "did take some stuff". In an attempt to identify the female, officer asked her if she had her license or ID to which the suspect said she did not. Officer asked her name and she said "Marissa Lewis", officer asked her to spell her name to confirm the spelling and again told the officer "Marissa Lewis". Officer asked for her date of birth at which time Ms. "Lewis" dropped her bags and said "hang on let me check my ID". Officer believed that Ms. "Lewis" was lying to her about her name and therefore detained the suspect at that time. Officer placed her in handcuffs (DLBB) and asked what her real name was, at which point she identified herself. The suspect said that she lied about her name because she possibly had a probation violation warrant out of Clayton County, The suspect had 2 bags with her and said that her ID was in the side of one of the bags. The officer walked the suspect into the store so that the manager, could bar her from the property and to try to identify any stolen merchandise. Upon searching the suspects' bags, the manager identified 27 total items of miscellaneous merchandise, including socks, glasses, nail polish, soap and chocolate bars. The manager advised the suspect that she was barred from the store for 2 years; The officer explained to the suspect that if she returned to the store she would be arrested for Criminal Trespass which she said she understood. The suspect was advised that she was under arrest for Shoplifting and Obstruction and transported to Clarke County Detention Center without incident.
