Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: On July 11, 2024, at about 10:02 p.m., Officer Jon Finze of the Wauconda Police Department received a report from Lake Zurich about a possible impaired driver near Routes 12 and 22. He soon spotted a vehicle matching the report near Route 176. The car turned west onto the road, and Officer Finze followed it for a short time. He saw it nearly strike a curb, then pulled it over near Brown Street. The driver eventually stopped in a lot near McDonald's. The driver was Amanda Daiello. She first told Officer Finze she was going to McDonald's, then said she was heading home after dining with friends at Cooper's Hawk. She also admitted that she had taken part in a wine tasting before going to the restaurant. During their conversation, Officer Finze noticed signs that she might be impaired. He asked her to leave the car and perform field sobriety tests. He started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, or HGN, test and observed all six signs of impairment. Amanda then took the Walk and Turn test. She failed to maintain heel-to-toe contact, lost her balance while turning, and took the wrong number of steps. During the One Leg Stand test, she could not keep her foot raised and put it down too soon. After the tests, Officer Finze offered Amanda a portable breath test, but she refused. The odor of alcohol, her signs of impairment, her admission that she had been drinking, and her poor test results led to her arrest for DUI. Officers handcuffed her and placed her in a patrol car. Officer Pet drove her to the Wauconda Police Department. At the station, an officer read Amanda the Warning to Motorist form. She still refused to provide a breath sample. After processing, officers released her with two tickets ordering her to appear in court. One charged her with driving under the influence of alcohol. The other was for improper lane usage.
