🚨 Shoplifting Call Turns Into Multi‑Jurisdiction Pursuit — Sugar Creek, Missouri (April 21, 2025) Sugar Creek officers responded to a shoplifting report at the Dollar Tree on US‑24 Highway. Dispatch provided a description of the suspect and her vehicle. When officers arrived, they found Lauren Ruwart getting into a maroon Ford Freestar with her dog. As officers attempted to contact her, Ruwart reversed into a patrol vehicle, then drove forward into a shopping cart corral. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but Ruwart continued reversing and struck the patrol vehicle again. A dog inside the van jumped out and bit one of the officers. Ruwart fled the parking lot and entered westbound US‑24 Highway. Officers initiated a pursuit.
