It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: On February 11, 2025, around 11:27 PM, Officer Calvin Milas from the Downers Grove Police Department saw a GMC Sierra swerving between lanes. The vehicle was heading east on Technology Drive near Butterfield Road. Officer Milas turned on his emergency lights, but the driver sped away instead of stopping. The chase lasted about two miles until the truck pulled over at Summit Avenue and South Lane Drive in Oakbrook Terrace. The officer approached the driver, who was later identified as Yuvia. While talking to her, he noticed vomit on the truck’s driver-side door. There were also signs that she might be impaired. Yuvia explained she was on her way to work at the Gold Room, a club in Stone Park, Illinois. Initially, Officer DeVries asked Yuvia to recite the alphabet from “E” to “W,” but she kept going past “W.” Then, he asked her to count backwards from “59” to “37,” and she finished at “27.” After another officer, Officer Pastrana, arrived to help, Yuvia was asked to step out of the vehicle and do field sobriety tests. The first test was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus. During this test, Officer Milas saw four out of six signs of impairment. Next was the Walk and Turn test. Yuvia failed this test because she didn’t touch heel-to-toe and turned the wrong way. The last test was the One Leg Stand. After the sobriety tests, Officer Milas offered Yuvia a portable breath test. She refused to give a proper breath sample after several tries. Her poor driving and failure on the tests led to her being arrested for DUI. Once handcuffed, Yuvia was placed in the patrol car and taken to the police station. At the station, she was read her rights and agreed to take a breathalyzer test. Her BAC was measured at 0.066%, which is over the legal limit for drivers under 21. After processing her, she was released and told to appear in court at the DuPage County Courthouse on March 12, 2025. Yuvia faced several charges.
