On January 27, 2024, Florham Park Police Officer Hedden observed a vehicle traveling at approximately 25 to 30 miles per hour in a posted 50 mile per hour zone. He also stated in his police report that the same vehicle proceeded to cross over the white dashed lines on multiple occasions without the use of turn signals. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and the 29 year-old woman was not able to provide a valid driver's license, vehicle registration, or car insurance. She admitted to coming from a restaurant where she had consumed alcohol. Sgt. Orgel performed standardized field sobriety tests on the woman. After completing the tests, Sgt. Orgel decided to have a private conversation with Officer Hedden and they elected to mute their body cameras for most of the discussion. They eventually decided to arrest the woman for DUI. She submitted to an evidential breath test at the police station and the result was 0.21% BAC. She was issued 8 motor vehicle summonses with a court date. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
