On March 22, 2024, Little Silver Police Lieutenant Oliva observed a vehicle traveling on two flat tires. He attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the police report claims the driver would not stop. Sgt. Scherer placed his patrol vehicle facing head on with the woman's vehicle and she finally came to a stop. When Sgt. Scherer questioned the woman, she admitted to consuming wine at lunch. She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests and was eventually arrested for DUI. She was transported to the Little Silver police station and the police report indicates she submitted to an evidential breath test and the result was 0.194% BAC. She received 3 traffic citations and was released about an hour later. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
