They spotted a silver Mazda pulled over on the curb of Indianwood Boulevard. The car was empty, and the airbags on the passenger side had gone off. The officers approached and found a woman, 24-year-old Jazmine Jones, near the passenger side of the vehicle. Shortly after, they saw another woman walking east along Indianwood Boulevard and learned she was the person driving the Mazda. The officers went over to speak with her, and she was later identified as 23-year-old Alexis Anderson. Alexis told them she had one drink and two shots earlier that night. As they questioned her, signs of impairment became clear. Based on these signs, they decided to take her into custody and drive her back to the crash site to perform field sobriety tests. Officer Schwartz began with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. Next was the Walk and Turn, which Alexis failed—she didn’t touch heel-to-toe correctly, made improper turns, and stepped the wrong number of times. She also failed the One Leg Stand test because she didn’t keep her foot up properly and put it down before the test was done. When asked to recite the alphabet from “F” to “R,” her response was unsatisfactory. Counting backward from “67” to “52” also didn’t go well. During the modified Romberg test, Alexis asked the officer to just arrest her, so the test was stopped. Because of the crash, her signs of impairment, her confession about drinking earlier, and her poor performance on the tests, Officer Schwartz arrested Alexis for driving under the influence. She was handcuffed, put in the patrol car, and taken to the police station. At the station, police read her the Warning to Motorist form. She agreed to give breath samples. Her results from the Intoxilyzer showed her blood alcohol content was 0.103%, above the legal limit of 0.08%. After processing her, she was released with a court date and several tickets, including charges for driving under the influence of alcohol, having a BAC over the limit, and failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident. 11:32 Theres you a dei hire teacher.. 11:40 how does alcohol make you forget you ABCs?
