Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At around 12:25 PM on March 17, 2024, Officer Summerville from the Lakewood Police Department went to check out a report about a driver who seemed drunk and had a flat tire on Larchmont Avenue. After Officer Summerville headed back to his patrol car, Officers Costanzo and Wallace showed up to help. While Officer Wallace was talking to the driver, she noticed the smell of alcohol and saw that her eyes were red and watery. Suspecting that the driver might be impaired, Allyson was asked to do some field sobriety tests. The first sobriety test was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. Officer Wallace noted that Allyson struggled to follow smoothly, showed clear signs of nystagmus when her eyes were at maximum deviation, and started to show nystagmus before reaching 45 degrees. There were no signs of vertical gaze nystagmus in either eye. The second test was the Walk and Turn, where Allyson didn’t walk heel-to-toe and stepped off the line. For the final test, the One Leg Stand, she had trouble raising her foot correctly and swayed while trying to balance. Allyson was arrested for OVI after officers noticed damage to her car, smelled alcohol, saw an open container, and observed that she struggled with the field sobriety tests. Officers Costanzo and Wallace took her to the Lakewood Jail, where she was booked for OVI. Once at the jail, Allyson refused to provide breath samples. Since this was her second OVI offense, she was informed that her license would be suspended for two years. She was later released to her sister and faced charges for OVI (4511.19), OVI refusal (4511.19A2), and having an open container (529.07).
