Watch as officers attempt to maintain calm and de-escalate a tense situation inside an apartment building, guiding a non-compliant individual toward a field sobriety test. Responding to reports of erratic driving and an individual stumbling into an apartment building, officers quickly located the subject, an adult male, within a residential unit. Despite the individual admitting to alcohol consumption, he initially denied operating a vehicle. However, witness accounts provided officers with probable cause to believe he had been driving dangerously, necessitating further investigation. In an effort to proceed calmly and professionally, officers are seen in this footage attempting to persuade the individual to undergo a standardized field sobriety test in the hallway. They emphasize a 'cool' and straightforward approach, stating, "We're being cool, right? Just be cool with us. So, we'll Go out in the hallway, do the tests. If you're good, then you're good." This moment highlights the procedural efforts to gain cooperation before any further escalation. Despite these attempts, the individual ultimately refused to cooperate with the field sobriety test. This refusal subsequently led to resistance during arrest, culminating in a struggle before officers successfully handcuffed and escorted him from the premises.
