Greensboro Police department released the bodycam footage of an officer involved shooting that took place on May 18 on Lawndale Drive. Officers got a call about a man with a gun in an apartment complex parking lot. At the scene, the officers spotted Gerald Pinckney. The officer told Pinckney he wasn't in trouble, but asked him to come toward him. The officer then pulled his own weapons and asked the man where his gun was. As Pinckney reached around his back near his waistband, the officer said, "Don't do it, leave it there," and moved away from him. In the video, the officer tells Pinckney to "drop it" six separate times and warns that he would shoot Pinckney. As Pinckney continues toward him, the officer did shoot him twice. He later died at the hospital. At the scene, officers found a BB air pistol. Investigators later determined that it was Pinckney himself who called 911.
