On 5/9 at approximately 11:20 am, a call came in to the Pinal County Sheriff's Office from a subject at the Burger King at W. Hunt Hwy and N. Gary Rd. claiming he was being followed by subjects wearing ski masks and possibly armed with firearms. When PCSO deputies arrived, the suspect vehicle took off, striking one PCSO Deputy. The deputy sustained minor injuries to his lower leg. A pursuit ensued, with the suspect at times driving on the wrong side of the roadway and down dirt farm roads. A PCSO Deputy ultimately used his marked patrol truck to push the suspect vehicle off the roadway, and the suspect vehicle became disabled in a small irrigation canal at the end of E. Magma Rd, East of Hunt Hwy. All three occupants complied with commands and were taken into custody without further incident. Inside the vehicle, Deputies located two firearms and approximately 350 fentanyl pills. The driver also had another 37 fentanyl pills on his person. The driver, 26-year-old Oscar Campoy of Phoenix, was arrested for aggravated assault on a peace officer, possession of narcotic drugs, drug paraphernalia, criminal damage, resisting arrest, theft of a means of transportation, hit and run, unlawful flight, and weapons misconduct. Front passenger, 21-year-old Mary Jane Valencia of Laveen, was arrested for possession of narcotic drugs and drug paraphernalia. Rear passenger, 38-year-old Sergio Cortez of Phoenix, was arrested for possession of narcotic drugs, drug paraphernalia, weapons misconduct, and probation violation. "Thankfully, there were no injuries to the public. These suspects acted recklessly and without regard for the lives of others," said Sheriff Mark Lamb. "I commend my deputies for their selflessness and quick thinking." This incident is still under investigation.
