On June 6, 2026, at 0043 hours, I was patrolling SC 31 in the Myrtle Beach section of Horry County. While traveling southbound on SC 31 near the 11 MM, I observed a red in color motorcycle traveling northbound at a high rate of speed. I activated my front radar and confirmed the violators speed at 93-mph in a 65-mph zone. I activated my blue lights and initiated a traffic stop. The violator accelerated to exit onto SC 22 eastbound. I activated my siren and the violator then pulled over on the right shoulder of the ramp. The violator then accelerated in an attempt to flee, and the female passenger fell off of the motorcycle. I notified the Florence TCC I was in vehicle pursuit and the violator exited onto US 17 Bypass southbound. Trp T.L. Conley responded to the passenger, Kylee Sherba, that fell off of the motorcycle. The violator fled southbound until reaching Garden City Connector. The violator then made a U-Turn and began fleeing northbound on US 17. After a possible positive identification of the driver from the passenger, I discontinued the pursuit, shut off all my emergency equipment, and maintained regular driving habits. The violator continued fleeing on US 17 Bypass and attempted to exit onto SC 544. The violator then spilled in the roadway and crossed over SC 544. The violator then ran off the roadway right and then struck a tree. I notified the Florence TCC of the collision immediately. The driver, Dennis Sherman, was transported to Grand Strand medical center. Deputy Scottie Jordan with the Horry County Sheriffs Office responded and completed a collision report. After further investigation, it was determined that Kylee Sherba provided Trp. T.L. Conley with a false name for the driver of the motorcycle that she was on. Kylee Sherba was the registered owner of the motorcycle. The driver, Dennis Sherman, had an ID only and the status of his driving privilege in SC was suspended. After responding to Grand Strand and speaking with the passenger, she advised me that she gave the name of a different motorcycle rider that was riding in their group. I advised her that she was under arrest, placed handcuffs on her, and double locked them. I read her Miranda rights and Trp. T.L. Conley transported her to J Reuben Long where she was processed into the booking area. While at the hospital, I also found 1.67 grams of cocaine and 73 pills on the drivers person. All evidence was logged and submitted at the Conway patrol office. The driver later sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision.
