On July 21st. at approximately 10:53 p.m. I was notified by Trooper Binam that Elkins PD was in pursuit of a black Ford Taurus SUV. The pursuit ensued for nearly ten minutes until the suspect turned onto N. College Ave. traveling northbound toward my location. The suspect drove by me at nearly 100 mph fleeing from Elkins PD near College and Township St. I advised my dispatch that I was primary of the pursuit at 11:02 p.m. I attempted a TVI on the fleeing suspect just north of Township. As I approached the passenger side of the vehicle to position for a TVI, the vehicle veered away from me; and then applied the brakes and swerved into my patrol unit almost causing me to crash at nearly 100 mph. I was able to regain control of my vehicle, and then performed a successful TVI at 11:03 p.m. to bring the pursuit to an end. Trp. Sheldon Phipps assisted with blocking the front of the suspect vehicle. Although the vehicle was pinned, he continued to apply the gas continuously spinning the front tires causing smoke to come from them. After a brief moment he followed commands to stop apply the gas and exited the vehicle. The suspect was then taken into custody without further incident.
