A subject's repeated denials of any wrongdoing unfold from the back of a patrol car, highlighting the immediate aftermath of a serious incident. On January 21, 2024, police responded after a child, found barefoot in freezing temperatures near a fire station, reported being physically abused by an adult guardian following a dispute over chores. The child detailed being punched, having their hair pulled, and struck with an extension cord, with officers later observing injuries consistent with the account. The guardian, initially contacted at the residence, described the situation as a "discipline issue" and claimed only defensive actions were taken. After a review and consultation, the individual was detained and subsequently arrested on felony charges related to child abuse and aggravated assault, with the child placed into protective custody. --- Transparency through the lens of the law.
