A late-night traffic stop escalates when an officer's observations lead to a breathalyzer test, revealing significant impairment. At approximately 4:18 AM, an officer initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle driving erratically, crossing the center line, speeding, and nearly colliding with another car. The driver, a young adult, initially denied alcohol consumption but later admitted to drinking, exhibiting incoherence and a detected odor of alcohol. Following a series of failed field sobriety exercises, including significant issues with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, Walk and Turn, and One Leg Stand tests, the driver submitted to a preliminary breath test, which indicated a blood alcohol content of 0.125%. Subsequently, the individual was placed under arrest for driving under the influence, read their constitutional rights, and later provided a breathalyzer sample revealing a BAC of 0.111%, significantly above the legal limit for their age group. The driver was processed, booked, and ultimately pleaded guilty to an amended charge of negligent driving, receiving a sentence including community service, probation, and fines. --- Transparency through the lens of the law.
