On July 13, 2026, Rio Rancho Police Officers responded to a gas station after receiving a report of a car accident. Officers made contact with the victim who stated that the other driver smelled like alcohol. The 32-year-old driver of the at-fault vehicle denied consuming alcohol, but she admitted that she urinated on herself because she was nervous. Officers asked her to perform standardized field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, she was placed under arrest. She was transported to the Rio Rancho police station, where she agreed to provide 2 breath samples. Both registered 0.27% BAC (more than 3 times the legal limit). She was charged with Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
