It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: At around 5:29 AM on August 14, 2023, Officer Shane Robichaud from the Colonie Police Department spotted a woman asleep behind the steering wheel of a silver Ford Focus at the Sunoco gas station on Albany Shaker Road. He tapped on her window to wake her up and spoke with her. The woman, who was later named Julissa, told Officer Robichaud she was from Massachusetts and had been at a campsite in Lake George, New York. When he asked if she had been drinking, she admitted she had consumed alcohol in the hours before. Soon after, two more officers arrived to help. Suspecting that Julissa might be impaired, they asked her to do some field sobriety tests. Officer Robichaud began with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. Next, she had to take the Walk and Turn test, followed by the One Leg Stand test. Once these tests were done, they requested that Julissa take a portable breathalyzer test. However, she refused to comply, even after they asked her multiple times to blow into it. Officer Robichaud found Julissa asleep in her car. She admitted to drinking alcohol and struggled to perform the field sobriety tests. As a result, he arrested her for driving under the influence. During a search of her vehicle, he discovered a container of Jose Cuervo tequila, which was taken as evidence. Animal Control was called to take her dog to a shelter, and her vehicle was towed from the gas station. Julissa was taken to the Colonie Police Department by another officer for processing. At the station, she refused to provide breath samples for testing. After the officers completed their work with her, Julissa was released while she awaited her court date.
