Seattle, Washington — A reported armed disturbance in South Seattle ended in a fatal officer-involved shooting on the afternoon of December 2, 2025. According to the Seattle Police Department, officers were dispatched shortly after 1:30 p.m. following multiple 911 reports of a man allegedly displaying a firearm near the intersection of 42nd Avenue South and South Othello Street. When officers arrived, they located an individual believed to be armed and began issuing verbal commands while attempting to de-escalate the situation. Police say the man failed to comply with repeated instructions to drop the weapon. Investigators reported that during the encounter, the man pointed the firearm toward responding officers. In response, officers discharged their weapons. One officer fired a department-issued handgun, while another fired a patrol rifle. Authorities stated that the man was still holding the firearm after being struck. Officers then deployed a 40mm less-lethal round to separate the weapon from the individual before approaching and providing emergency medical aid. Despite lifesaving efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been publicly released pending official notification procedures. No officers were injured during the incident. However, a bystander inside a nearby apartment building sustained minor injuries from shattered glass and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. Disclaimer: This video is presented for educational, documentary, and informational purposes only.
