This documentary goes deep inside France’s Beron department, home to some of the world's most elite firefighters, as they gear up for what is predicted to be a catastrophic wildfire season. Exceptional drought, soaring temperatures, and parched vegetation have transformed the region into a tinderbox, and the situation is made worse by a known arsonist deliberately setting fires across Provence's pine forests. You will witness the intense preparation for the looming disaster, including the specialized training of ground crews mastering 20-ton, 8-wheel drive tanker trucks capable of creating a temporary water-mist safety bubble against a massive fire blast. We follow new recruits who are preparing to face their first real flames—a terrifying challenge known to hypnotize the inexperienced.
