On September 6, 2025, Rio Rancho Police Officers were dispatched to conduct a welfare check. The reporting party indicated there was a car parked in the middle of the roadway with a female driver and 2 babies inside. Sgt. Buchanan arrived first and made contact with the 33-year-old woman who was sitting in the driver's seat. She attempted to roll up the window when she was asked to step out of the vehicle. She was extracted from the vehicle and detained in handcuffs. After determining that the woman was intoxicated, she was placed under arrest and placed in the back of a police vehicle. At the police station, she agreed to provide breath samples, which both registered 0.17% BAC (more than twice the legal limit).
