A nighttime traffic stop quickly escalates as a driver's erratic behavior leads to a sobriety investigation. After observing a vehicle driving erratically and crossing the center line, a deputy initiated a traffic stop. The 20-year-old driver initially denied alcohol consumption, but the deputy's observations of incoherence and alcohol odor prompted a request for a Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) check. The driver then admitted to having a Budlight Seltzer, leading to a request for voluntary field sobriety exercises. During the Walk and Turn test, the driver failed to complete the exercise as instructed, walking backward for the second set of steps. This, combined with other indicators and a subsequent PBT result of 0.125% BAC, led to an arrest for driving under the influence.
