The NOPD has released bodycam footage from an officer-involved shooting that occurred during the January 1, 2025, terrorist attack at the intersection of Bourbon and Iberville streets. At approximately 3:15 a.m., several NOPD officers assigned to Special Event coverage for New Year’s Eve and the Sugar Bowl responded to an incident involving a white pickup truck in the 300 block of Bourbon Street. When officers surrounded the vehicle, the driver fired at them. In response, Sergeant Nigel Daggs and Officers Christian Beyer and Jacobie Jordan returned fire, resulting in the driver being pronounced dead at the scene. During the incident, Officer Jacobie Jordan and Officer Joseph Rodrigue—who did not discharge his firearm—each sustained gunshot wounds to their thighs. Additionally, Officer Rodrigue suffered a fractured shoulder. Both officers were transported to the hospital, treated, and later released. All officers involved were placed on administrative reassignment following the incident. Disclaimer: The following content contains graphic scenes of violence that may be disturbing to some viewers.
