#news #police #arrest #cops Report: On 07/02/2022, At approximately 0220 hours, officer was patrolling the area of W Broad St when she pulled into the center turn lane to make a left turn into Beech Haven Church. While waiting for the traffic (high volume) to pass, officer noticed a Black Sierra GMC approaching in the opposite lane at a high rate of speed. As the truck drove by my vehicle, it caused the officers vehicle to rock/shake. Officer immediately did a U Turn and attempted to catch up to the vehicle. Officer was able to initiate a traffic stop at the intersection of Atlanta Hwy and the Ultimate Dr. When the vehicle came to a stop, officer noticed a female jump into the back seat of the truck and look out of the back window. I called for an additional unit at this point. Officer approached the vehicle and noticed there was no one in the driver seat. Officer noticed a female in the back seat and a male sitting in the passenger seat. Officer opened the back door and asked the Suspect why she jumped to the backseat, she denied it. Officer had her step out and advised her she was being detained. While placing handcuffs on her and speaking to her, officer immediately smelled the odor of that similar to an alcoholic beverage. Officer then spoke to the male. The male, stated that the suspect was driving but due to her not having her license, she jumped to the back seat and told him to get in the driver seat. He stated that the suspect had been drinking, but told him she was safe to drive. He advised that the two had just left from downtown. The female's driver's license returned as being SUSPENDED due to DUI-SECOND.
