Around 5:29 AM on August 14, 2023, Officer Shane Robichaud with the Colonie Police Department observed a woman sleeping behind the wheel of a silver Ford Focus at the Sunoco gas station located at 656 Albany Shaker Road. He awakened the woman by knocking on her window and made contact with her. The woman, later identified as Julissa, informed Officer Robichaud that she was from Massachusetts and that she was coming from a camp site in Lake George, New York. He asked her if she had been drinking, and she admitted to consuming alcohol in the hours prior. Shortly afterwards, 2 additional officers arrived to assist. Based upon his suspicion of impairment, Julissa was asked to perform field sobriety exercises. Officer Robichaud started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test and the final exercise was the One Leg Stand test. After the field sobriety exercises, Julissa was asked to take a portable breathalyzer test, but she refused to cooperate despite numerous attempts to have her blow into it. Based on the officer finding her asleep behind the wheel, her admission to consuming alcohol, and her inability to adequately complete the field sobriety exercises, Officer Robichaud placed Julissa under arrest for driving under the influence. A search of her vehicle incident to arrest revealed a container of Jose Cuervo tequila, which was placed into an evidence bag. Animal Control was called to transport her dog to a shelter and her vehicle was towed from the gas station. Julissa was transported to the Colonie Police Department by another officer for further processing. At the station, Julissa refused to submit breath samples for testing. Once the officers were finished with processing her, Julissa was released pending her court appearance. Officer Robichaud issued Julissa the following summonses: Operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and refusal to take breath test ------------------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting our channel (email us for more information).
