On 05-29-2025 at approximately 1324 hours, I was sitting near the intersection at Jackson Street and Bartow Street in the City of Thomasville in Thomas County, when I noticed a red in color car come pass me traveling east on Jackson Street. As the vehicle passed, I could see the driver was wearing a white shirt and it appeared he was not wearing his seat dbelt. I pulled out and conducted a traffic stop. The vehicle pulled over to the right side of the road and came to a stop. As I was calling the stop in to Troop G communications, the vehicle fled. The vehicle made a left turn traveling north on Stevens Street. The vehicle made a left turn traveling West on Jefferson Street running the stop sign. The driver continued West on Jefferson Street and failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection on West Jefferson and Oak Street. As the driver was negotiating the curves on W Jefferson/ Lee Street, the driver was driving on the wrong side of the road. As we approached the intersection of Lee Street and W. Jackson Street the driver traveled back to the wrong side of the road. The driver failed to stop for the stop sign at this intersection as well and made a right turn to travel West on Jackson Street. The driver began to weave in and out of traffic on Jackson Street. At one point, the driver passed a group of vehicles on the right shoulder almost striking a red truck and almost rear ending a white car. The driver made a right turn traveling West on Neel Street. The driver began to drive on the wrong side of the road again. As the vehicle approached the intersection on Neel Street and MLK JR Dr, the driver slammed on brakes and snatched the steering wheel. It appeared he was avoiding a collision with a black male on a bicycle and a white in color SUV. The vehicle began to rotate clockwise towards the right ditch. The vehicle then struck a concrete driveway at the address of 302 Neel Street, continued striking a second brick driveway column at the address of 304 Neel Street. The vehicle began to overturn several times and struck a tree before coming to a final rest on its roof. I notified the Commutation center of the crash and to get some help on the way. After I exited my patrol car and began to clear the car with my department issued weapon, I could hear a male's voice inside the car screaming. I noticed all four doors were pinned shut. I told the male to hang on and we were going to get him out. At this time two black males approached me from behind and stated there was a body across the road. I noticed a black male wearing a white t shirt and blue jeans across the road in a pine straw flower bed. He was face down and not moving. I ran over to him and rolled him over. I noticed blood coming from his nose and mouth area. I checked for a pulse and could not feel one. I also noticed the male was not breathing. I began CPR. Once SGT Goen arrived, he retrieved his AED from the rear of his car. I continued CPR on the male while SGT Goen prepared the AED. SGT Goen and I swapped out on CPR a few times until EMS arrived and took over. Thomas County Fire and EMS extricated the passenger and both subjects were transported the hospital. The driver was later identified as James Edward Roberts with a DOB -1990. He was pronounced deceased at the hospital. During an inventory of the vehicle, TFC Simerly found several THC packages, wax, and possible cocaine inside the car. The THC packages and wax were found in the center console. The THC gummies were found in the passenger seat and the suspected cocaine was found in the small compartment near the gear shift. Thomas County Investigators arrived on scene and took possession of all contraband from SGT Goen. The accident was turned over to SGT Goen and Troop G SCRT.
