An early morning traffic stop escalates as an officer investigates erratic driving, uncovering significant impairment. Following observations of erratic driving, including crossing the center line and nearly rear-ending another vehicle, a traffic stop was initiated at approximately 4:18 AM. The officer detected a strong odor of alcohol and noted the driver's incoherent demeanor. Initially denying alcohol consumption, the 20-year-old driver later admitted to a single drink. Field sobriety exercises, including the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, Walk and Turn (where she walked backward for 9 steps), and One Leg Stand (counting to 22 in 30 seconds), indicated clear impairment. A subsequent PBT registered 0.125% BAC, leading to an arrest for driving under the influence.
