On September 9, 2024, multiple people called 911 to report a reckless driver. Las Cruces Officer Donato located the vehicle and made a traffic stop. The 29-year-old driver was holding her infant son in her arms while driving. She admitted to consuming a bottle of tequila and driving for approximately 30 minutes. She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. A detective came to the scene to investigate child abuse charges. The woman was eventually arrested for DUI and felony child abuse and was transported to the police station. The woman's sister arrived to take custody of the infant. The woman submitted to an evidential breath test 2 hours after being stopped and the result was a staggering 0.25% BAC. Her charges and the outcome of the case are discussed at the end of the video.
