According to the Logan County Sheriff's Office, they received a call around 2:12 p.m. regarding a possible intoxicated woman at a Dollar General in New Blaine, Ark., located in eastern Logan County. The woman, identified as Angela Sharp, of Tulsa, Okla., left the store in a white Nissan SUV and headed west on State Highway 22. A Logan County Sheriff’s Office deputy got behind the vehicle in New Blaine and activated his emergency lights. Sharp then reportedly drove her vehicle through a yard and back onto State Highway 22, refusing to stop as she continued west. The Paris PD had units block intersections and a unit ahead of the pursuit to move vehicles out of the highway. The Logan County Sheriff’s Office anticipates Sharp will be charged with fleeing, aggravated assault and several traffic offenses. Trooper's Narrative: On 08/11/2026, at approximately 1427 hours, I, Trooper Jeremy A. Elliott (#480), was notified by Troop H Telecommunications that the Logan County Sheriff’s Office was actively involved in a vehicle pursuit on State Highway 22, traveling westbound from the Delaware area. Upon receiving this information, I activated my emergency lights and siren and responded toward the area in an attempt to intercept and assist with the pursuit. I entered the Paris city limits and observed that the Paris Police Department had positioned officers and patrol vehicles at several major highway intersections in an apparent effort to control traffic and assist with the ongoing pursuit. While traveling through the city, I was advised that the pursuit was approaching Paris on State Highway 22 westbound. I positioned my patrol vehicle near the parking lot of Sonic and staged in an attempt to safely intercept the suspect vehicle as it traveled through the area. As the suspect vehicle passed my location, I entered the roadway and assumed the primary position in the pursuit. I notified Troop H Telecommunications that I had taken over the pursuit and continued westbound on State Highway 22 with my emergency lights and siren activated. The pursuit continued westbound through the Paris area. Once the suspect vehicle and pursuing units had traveled out of the more congested portion of the city, the roadway transitioned into a section of State Highway 22 that consisted of three lanes. I continued following the suspect vehicle while maintaining my emergency equipment and monitoring the surrounding traffic conditions. When I determined there was no oncoming traffic in the area and conditions allowed for the maneuver, I utilized the front passenger-side bumper of my patrol vehicle to conduct a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) on the suspect vehicle. The TVI was successful and caused the suspect vehicle to veer to the left and exit the roadway into the eastbound ditch. After entering the ditch, the suspect vehicle collided with the terrain and subsequently rolled multiple times before coming to rest. I, along with multiple assisting officers and deputies, immediately attempted to conduct a felony takedown of the suspect vehicle. During the takedown, the suspect vehicle began emitting a large amount of smoke. Due to the condition of the vehicle and the potential hazard presented by the smoke, officers and deputies approached the vehicle in an attempt to remove the driver. Officers initially attempted to open the vehicle's doors but were unable to gain entry. I then utilized my department-issued expandable baton to break the rear driver-side window. After the window was broken, one of the assisting deputies was able to access the vehicle, unlock the door, and assist with the extraction of the driver. The driver was identified as Angela Sharp. Ms. Sharp was evaluated and treated at the scene by Logan County EMS. Due to the injuries sustained during the crash, Ms. Sharp was transported by EMS to Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith for further medical evaluation and treatment. At the conclusion of the medical evaluation and upon Ms. Sharp's release from the hospital, the Logan County Sheriff's Office will take custody of Ms. Sharp and proceed with the appropriate charges related to the pursuit and subsequent incident.
