When Officer Lawrence arrived, he saw that the front passenger-side tire was damaged, and the car had scratches and dents. He then spoke to the driver, 33-year-old A. Bickar. She initially claimed she hadn't been drinking and said she had come from her friend's house. The police noticed vomit near the driver's side of the car, and the woman showed signs of being impaired. Officer Lawrence asked her to take some field sobriety tests. Ms. Bickar struggled to recite the alphabet, count, walk in a straight line, and stand on one leg. Given these indicators, Officer Lawrence arrested her for driving under the influence.
