On October 3, 2025, Rio Rancho Police Officer Salido observed the driver of a Honda Civic following too closely behind another vehicle. He initiated a traffic stop on the Civic, which was being driven by a 48-year-old woman, who happen to be celebrating her birthday. Because she admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the evening, Officer Salido asked the woman to step out of the vehicle. She initially refused, but she exited after Officer Salido grabbed one of her arms and assisted her. Soon after exiting the vehicle, the woman made contact with Officer Salido's arm, which caused him to immediately place the woman under arrest for battery on a peace officer. She was transported to the Rio Rancho police station, where she allegedly kicked Officer Salido twice. In all, she was charged with 7 offenses, including 3 felonies. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
