This documentary recounts the dramatic 17-hour battle against the biggest fire to hit the Bouches-du-Rhône department in a decade. A hot, dry, and windy summer turned France's province into an inferno after a single act of negligence—a discarded cigarette—ignited a massive wildfire. With the notorious Mistral wind fanning the flames up to 60 mph, the fire quickly escalated, threatening Marseilles, its critical infrastructure, and surrounding residential suburbs. Follow Colonel Gregory Alleon and the elite SDIS13 fire and rescue service as they make high-risk tactical decisions, including deploying rare counter-fires and fighting from the air, land, and water. Witness the terrifying moment the fire broke through a major highway, cutting off escape routes, and how a team of firefighters found themselves surrounded by flames and struggling with carbon monoxide poisoning.
