Prior Appearance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gd9PxiNGrbY On June 18, 2022, at approximately 1:51 AM, Officer Teayana McNannay with the Pullman Police Department observed a westbound BMW driving without headlights on NE Stadium Way. She made a U-turn and activated her emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. The driver pulled over in the parking lot of Evergreen Tire and Auto Repair at 300 NE Stadium Way. She exited her patrol car and initiated contact with the driver, later identified as 21-year-old Karly Basham. Karly told Officer McNannay that she was headed back home. As she was speaking with Karly, Officer McNannay detected the odor of alcohol and observed other indicators of impairment, Karly denied consuming any alcohol, but she would later admit to consuming alcohol at The Coug earlier that evening. Based on her suspicion of impairment, Officer McNannay asked Karly perform field sobriety exercises. Officer McNannay started with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) test. The second exercise was the Walk and Turn test. During the Walk and Turn test, Karly did not touch heel-to-toe on each step and turned improperly. The final exercise was the One Leg Stand Test, but Karly did not want to attempt that test. Following the field sobriety exercises, Karly was offered the opportunity to submit to a voluntary PBT test, but she ultimately refused. Based on the odor of alcohol and her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises, Officer McNannay placed Karly under arrest for driving under the influence. After she was placed in handcuffs, Karly was transported to the Pullman Police Department for further processing. At the Pullman Police Department, Karly agreed to submit breath samples after speaking with an attorney. Her first breath samples indicated BAC levels of 0.145 (IR) and 0.152 (EC). Her second breath samples indicated BAC levels of 0.139 (IR) and 0.146 (EC), which were almost double the legal limit of 0.08%. Officer McNannay also told Karly that she smelled like marijuana. Karly was later fingerprinted and photographed after spending some time inside a cell. She was charged with DUI in violation of RCW 46.61.502. Officer McNannay returned her property, advised her of her charges, and released her pending her court appearance in Pullman, Washington on June 20, 2022 at 3:00 PM. ---------------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting our channel (email us for more information).
