Prior Arrest for Shoplifting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nT65ihvHSB0 Around 7:26 PM on August 17, 2024, Officer Michael Hyle with the Lacey Township Police Department was dispatched to a report of a female shoplifter at Walmart located at 580 Route 9. Officer Hyle arrived around 7:34 PM walked over to the loss prevention office. He met with an employee who told them that a female had attempted to leave the store with unpaid items. The alleged shoplifter, identified as Danielle Dudek, had been detained in the loss prevention office. The officers were informed that this was her 10th time stealing from that Walmart. The officers waited for the store employees to determine to total value of items she attempted to shoplift during this particular incident before placing her under arrest for shoplifting. A store employee told Danielle that she was not permitted to enter Walmart again. After she was placed under arrest, Officer Hyle transported her to the Lacey Township Police Department for further processing. Danielle was charged with shoplifting $51.07 worth of items under 2C:20-11B(1). After she was photographed and fingerprinted, she was given a ride back to her car in the Walmart parking lot. The officers informed her that they would soon be following through on additional charges for other incidents when she allegedly shoplifted from the same Walmart. Court records indicate that Danielle has a long list of prior offenses. She had previously been arrested for driving under the influence in Brick Township, New Jersey on March 15, 2020. She was later arrested again for shoplifting from ShopRite on March 26, 2024. That charge of theft was amended to a lesser charge and she paid a total of $560.02 in fines. Her other shoplifting charges were disposed of in the Lacey Township Municipal Court on November 19, 2024. ---------------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting this channel (email us for more information). (P.L. 2024, c.16). Defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty. The New Jersey Supreme Court has previously affirmed in Salzano v. North Jersey Media Group, 993 A.2d 778 (2010) that “The fair-report privilege reflects the judgment that the need, in a self-governing society, for free-flowing information about matters of public interest outweighs concerns over the uncompensated injury to a person's reputation.” This video advances a compelling public interest. The summary of events was based on records that are “open to public view through open access to public records” as defined in the Salzano case. In Ramos v. Flowers, 429 N.J. Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.
