Dashcam footage sheds light on the incident in which a 27-year-old man with a gun confronted officers at about 10:30 p.m. on Jan 23, 2019 in a parking lot outside the Los Burritos Tapatios restaurant at 1232 W. Ogden Ave. The man, dressed in a dark hoodie and sweat pants, is seen walking from inside the restaurant to speak with officers who responded to calls about a person who was acting erratically and had asked a motorist at a gas station across the street if he could purchase Xanax. After the man exits the restaurant through the front door, the video shows him waving a gun at an approaching officer, who immediately backs off and tries to take cover behind a vehicle. At the same time, patrons and staff inside the restaurant can be seen running to the back of the building. For the next three minutes, the officer can be heard on an audio-video recording pleading with the man to put down the gun he was holding to his head.
