A call came in from a Charlotte County, Florida bar: a woman who'd been drinking was about to get behind the wheel — and there was a child in her car. This is the account of the traffic stop that followed, why driving drunk with a kid in the vehicle is treated as its own serious crime, and how a routine-sounding DUI call is really a child-rescue. The child is not named or shown, and the focus stays where it belongs — on the little passenger who never got a vote. Some case details are noted for verification; where a charge or outcome isn't confirmed, the person is presumed innocent.
