Around 1:14 AM on February 23, 2025, Officer Nicholas Losurdo with the Hoboken Police Department first responded to a report of a female with a form of false identification trying to gain entry into Pig & Parrot at 77 Hudson Street. He approached 2 females who were attempting to walk away and stopped them. They claimed that they had taken away their IDs at the bar. The staff outside the bar provided him with a copy of a fake Connecticut driver’s license indicating that 19-year-old Evangelia Chrisafinis was over 21, even though she did not reside in Connecticut. As the officers were investigating, a 20-year-old man named Elias Chrisafinis attempted to interfere with the officers’ investigation. He was told to back away, but he refused to heed the officers’ instructions. Since he was uncooperative, he was placed under arrest by Officer Losurdo. Officer Losurdo transported Elias to the Hoboken Police Department as the other officers remained on scene to investigate the other case. Evangelia was asked for her date of birth, and she admitted that she was born in 2005. Afterwards, Evangelia was also placed under arrest by Officer Daniela Simone. Officers Simone and Kim transported Evangelia to the Hoboken Police Department for further processing. After the officers finished processing her, she was eventually released pending her court appearance. Evangelia was charged with the following: -Exhibiting a false government ID (2C:21-2.1C) -Possession of a false government ID (2C:21-2.1D) Elias was charged with the following: -Aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer (2C:12-1B(5)(A) ) -Exhibiting a false government ID (2C:21-2.1C) -Possession of a false government ID (2C:21-2.1D) ------------------------------------------- Please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and consider supporting this channel (email us for more information). Our content is educational and in compliance with YouTube's Fair Use Policy because we edit several long clips into a concise story. This is similar to other law enforcement channels on YouTube. All videos and case documents were obtained pursuant to the New Jersey Open Public Records Act, N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq. (P.L. 2001, c. 404). Defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty. The New Jersey Supreme Court has previously affirmed in Salzano v. North Jersey Media Group, 993 A.2d 778 (2010) that “The fair-report privilege reflects the judgment that the need, in a self-governing society, for free-flowing information about matters of public interest outweighs concerns over the uncompensated injury to a person's reputation.” This video advances a compelling public interest. The summary of events was based on records that are “open to public view through open access to public records” as defined in the Salzano case. In Ramos v. Flowers, 429 N.J. Super. 13, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has also affirmed the right to film law enforcement interactions.
