A nighttime traffic stop quickly unravels as an officer encounters a driver exhibiting clear signs of impairment. At approximately 3:08 AM, a sergeant initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle driving without headlights and exhibiting erratic patterns. Upon contact, the driver, a 25-year-old woman, appeared incoherent and a strong odor of alcohol was detected. Field sobriety exercises were offered, during which she struggled significantly: failing the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, starting the One Leg Stand test prematurely, swaying, and counting erratically. She also failed the Walk and Turn test and recited the alphabet by singing and dancing, contrary to instructions. Based on her performance and erratic driving, she was arrested for driving under the influence; subsequent Alcotest results showed a blood alcohol content of 0.16%, double the legal limit.
