#news #police #arrest Offenses: DUI - Multiple Substances - Less Safe Reckless Driving Following too Closely Report: On April 27, 2022, At 17:11 another officer was dispatched to a two-vehicle collision on South Milledge Avenue near its intersection with Henderson Avenue. The officer on scene informed me that she observed the driver of the at-fault vehicle to be displaying physiological indicators that are consistent with impairment by Central nervous System (CNS) Depressants such as alcohol, as well as indicators that are consistent with impairment by Cannabis. These indicators were described as the following: ● Glassy and bloodshot eyes ● Difficulty standing without swaying ● Depressed reflexes ● Slurred speech The officer on scene asked the driver how many alcoholic drinks she had and she just shook her head. I arrived on scene and met with the driver, identified as Arianna Mantas. I confirmed that Mantas was displaying those physiological indicators of impairment. I also smelled the odor of an alcohol beverage emitting from Mantas' mouth as she spoke with me. I asked her where she was coming from and she stated "706." She stated that 706 is a restaurant. I asked her how many alcoholic beverages she had consumed and she informed me that she had drank two cocktail drinks. Due to the indicators I observed, I asked her to participate in field sobriety exercises and she agreed to do so. Field sobriety exercises were performed on level ground out of the roadway and she was not facing any active emergency lighting. Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus: ● Equal tracking and pupil size observed in both eyes. ● Lack of smooth pursuit observed in both eyes. ● Distinct and sustained nystagmus at maximum deviation observed in both eyes. ● Onset of nystagmus prior to 45 degrees observed in both eyes. Vertical Gaze Nystagmus: ● Observed in both eyes.
