Upon arrival, officers made contact with the suspect, later identified as a 31-year-old female named Mercedes. Mercedes attempted to steal a total of $826.88 worth of beauty supplies, clothing, and fishing tackle. She was charged with resisting an officer without violence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and third-degree grand theft. She pled no contest and was sentenced to 18 months of probation. A month and a half later, she violated her probation when she was charged with prostitution, a crime she was found guilty of committing.
