Around 1:56 AM on August 16, 2026, Officers Stephen Manney and Mamdouh Hassan with the Hanover Township Police Department were dispatched to the Hyatt House (1 Ridgedale Avenue North) on a report of someone’s teenage daughter causing a disturbance. The officers arrived on scene and made contact with the 18-year-old daughter, who was later identified as Maliaha Morris. Maliaha was knocking on the door and trying to get back in the room while holding a bottle of liquor. The officers decided to separate both parties. Officer Manney went inside the room and made contact with the mother, who was identified as Sheena Reaves. Maliaha told Officer Hassan that she had come to the hotel for a birthday party, and that her mother had promised to call her an Uber back home. However, Maliaha became frustrated when her mother told her that she did not have enough money, and then began causing a disturbance. As the officers were speaking with Maliaha in the hallway, they detected the odor of alcohol and cannabis on her person. When Maliaha’s car keys were returned to her mother so that she would not drive under the influence, Maliaha tried to walk away and became uncooperative. Since she continued to be uncooperative and belligerent, Maliaha was placed under arrest. Officer Hassan transported Maliaha to the Hanover Township Police Department for further processing. After the officers finished processing Maliaha, she was eventually released pending her court appearance. Maliaha was charged with the following: -Resisting arrest (2C:29-2A(1)) -Obstruction (2C:29-1A) -Disorderly conduct (2C:33-2A(1)) As of September 14, 2026, Maliaha’s case is still pending before the Hanover Municipal Court.
