It really helps us do original reporting like this. 🔍 Episode Overview: Around 1:43 a.m. on April 27, 2025, Officer Stephen Molenda from the Villa Park Police spotted a 2005 Volkswagen sedan weaving wildly west on Roosevelt Road. A report had come in moments earlier about a reckless driver in nearby Elmhurst. Molenda radioed dispatch: this car fit the description perfectly. The swerving didn't stop, so he flipped on his lights and pulled it over. He approached the driver, Juana Cerriteno. While talking to her, a strong whiff of alcohol hit him. He saw clear signs she was impaired. She fumbled for her papers but couldn't find them. An open bottle of booze sat right there in the car. Her two kids—a son and daughter—rode along in the back. Suspicious, he asked her to do sobriety tests. She flat-out refused. That sealed it for him: the wild driving, the booze smell, her shaky state, the open container, and her no to the tests. He arrested her for DUI on the spot. He cuffed her, loaded her into his cruiser, and drove her to the station for booking. He told her kids to get out. The car needed towing—everyone in it had clearly been drinking. Her daughter mentioned they'd hit up Allstate Arena that night. At the station, officers read her the motorist warning. She wouldn't give good breath samples. Once processed, they let her go until court.
